Pivot Point: A Reveiw

Thursday, October 31, 2013

With a week out of school ahead of me, I ran to my nearest library (school) to check out a few books, and was once again overwhelmed by the stock. My school's library is one of those places that all book nerds long for, but to tell everyone the truth here, I don't quite know what to do with it. There's just so much selection, I don't even know where to start.

Luckily enough for me, I managed to grab Pivot Point, by Kasie West, recognizing her name from her blog, which I had seen before.

(And besides, isn't that cover a beauty?)

The synopsis engaged me. A girl who could see the impact of ever choice she made, and what would happen if she chose the other route? Positively intriguing. All of it reminded me of a particular quote by Oscar Wilde:

The suspense is terrible,
I hope it lasts.

It was good. So good that I finished it on my first day of vacation. Whoops.

But onto the story. The whole book hinges around a girl, Addie, who can seen what effects will come from every choice she makes, something that ends up a blessing and a curse, particularly when her parents announce that they are getting a divorce, and her father wants to move outside the compound the houses people like them, and move to the outside world.

The majority of the book actually happens during her search on which decision to make, stay with her Mom on the compound, or experience what the outside world is like.

And to tell you all the truth, the whole thing was just wow. I have a feeling I'll be reading a lot more of Miss Kasie, and I hope that you will all join me.

And by the way, Happy Halloween to everyone!
